Privet - Welcome - Bienvenidos

Welcome to my blog.  Seems like a nice way to share recipes, stories and ideas that make life just a bit easier.

So enjoy and let me know what you think!

No holiday would be complete in our house without my Aunt Maya's mushroom sauce.  It reminds me of going looking for mushrooms with my great aunty in Canada, but here goes the recipe:
Aunt Maya's Mushroom sauce

1 lb. assorted mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
1 lb. sweet onions, sliced
1 cup butter, divided
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 bunch of fresh dill
1 cup sour cream (can't be Russian without sour cream)
Salt and Pepper to taste

In a saucepan, over low medium heat, melt half the butter, sauté the mushrooms, make sure that all the liquid has evaporated and the mushrooms are golden brown.

In a larger saucepan, over low heat, melt the rest of the butter, add the onions and sauté until all liquid is gone and mushrooms are translucent. Increase heat to medium high and add the mushrooms.  Sauté together for a couple of minutes.

Add the chicken broth, cook over medium heat until mushrooms are tender.  Add the sour cream to the mixture to thicken.  Add the salt and pepper to your taste, the dill is added at the last minute.

Enjoy!!
